KATHMANDU, Nov 10: United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) has decided to walk out of the parliament meeting from Friday as part of their symbolic protest to press the government to register constitution amendment proposal in the parliament by mid-November. 

A meeting of the UDMF parties on Thursday decided to walk out of the parliament to mount pressure on the government to address their demands by mid-November, the deadline set by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal himself following discussion with Madhesi leaders to register the amendment proposal in parliament.  

“Parliamentary party leaders from all Madhes-based political parties will address the parliament and then walk out of the parliament,” General Secretary of National Madhes Socialist Party Keshav Jha said. 

He said that the UDMF will hold symbolic protests and wait till mid-November to allow the government to address their demands. 

Similarly, Mahendra Raya Yadav of Tarai-Madhes Sadbhawana Party said that the UDMF will also meet with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and press him to include their demands in the amendment proposal. 

“As five days are left for mid-November, we will wait and see if the government tables the amendment proposal in parliament within the five days. We will also see whether the amendment prosposal includes our demands and then decide our next move,” he added.
