Short film festival Ekadeshma kicked off

KATHMANDU, Nov 11: The annual film festival Ekadeshma has been kicked off on Friday where short films from Nepal and around the world are showcased. The event which was inaugurated at QFX Kumari Hall, Kamal Pokhari will conclude on Sunday. 

This year the managers in addition to theater projections Ekadeshma are also venturing outdoor film screenings at Kirtipur grounds and Bouddhanath Stupa. 

“The motive of this event is to bring emerging talents and film professionals together that offers them a platform to refresh their views, discover new horizons, find fellow filmmaking collaborators and discuss new trends and developments in contemporary cinema and media,” read a statement issued by the organizer.

This is the fourth edition of the event which was initiated in October 2012. In this edition, the organizers have included 79 compelling and distinctive stories from all over the world followed by interactive panel discussions on cinema’s contemporary landscape. The presented tales include self-revelations and social struggles which are portrayed through the artistry of both student filmmakers and established directors.

Every tale begins with ‘Eka Deshma’ or ‘Once upon a time’ which is inspired by childhood stories that we have always been listening to.

The ticket price is Rs. 100 which includes package of 3-5 stories.
