KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The seventh edition of ‘Solo White on White’ painting exhibition showcasing ‘Aama, a story of the motherland’ by Jyoti Prakash BK is being held at Nepal Art Council, Baber Mahal. The exhibit organized by Art for Global Peaceis set to run till Friday. 

Altogether 15 paintings and two installations are being showcased at the exhibition. Keeping in line with the concept, only white color has been used in the contemporary works of assembled art. The exhibition is aimed at promoting conventional art form and spreading awareness about the preservation of traditional art.

All the paintings at the exhibit deliver a message of solidarity. One of the paintings, ‘A Fable of Puppet and White Tara’ shows a white star imparting knowledge to puppets that are a representation of people. 

Another artwork ‘Sakuni’s Paasa’ painted in a chess-board like pattern portrays the scenario of migrant workers, who have been presented in forms of camel. 

Similarly, one of the installations included five gagri (aluminum water pots) piled up in such a way that deciphers the bond of togetherness. The other installation has individuals inside frying pots, portraying human psychology in a peculiar yet creative manner.

“The embodiment of ‘Aama’ signifies our motherland and therefore it is dedicated to hundreds and thousands of mothers,” said president at Art for Global Peace and artist Jyoti Prakash BK. 

Reflecting the plights of countrymen in an urban society, the paintings are uniquely crafted with the usage of objects like clothes, utensils, pearls, buttons, mirrors, threads and other such items used in daily life. “This exhibition is an attempt to reflect the current situation of our motherland by stepping out of the conventional practice of art,” added BK.
