Falgunanda Sukilumba Airport in Ilam to be operational from next April

ILAM, Dec 29: The under-construction Falgunanda Sukilumba Airport will be operational from next April. As the work of blacktopping the runway is expected to complete within three months, take off and landing of small aircrafts from the airport will be possible from April, according to concerned government officials.

According to tea experts, tea gardens which have been privatized contain precious tea plants but it lacks conservation and expansion. Government should designate conservation area and expand the precious plant but at present it is produced as normal tea, and sold for nominal prices.

ILAM, Sept 21: How much does green tea cost? Most people have heard Rs 20, Rs 40, Rs 80 or even Rs 300 a kilogram at the garden. But some farmers in Ilam are selling green tea buds for as high as Rs 1,500 per kilogram. Green tea usually has two leaves and a bud. Industries buy the buds for Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500 per kilo. The wage for picking up the buds is Rs 500 per kilogram.
