PAANCHTHAR, April 18: Animal husbandry has a long history in high mountainous and hilly regions. However, residents in this region are slowly switching to other professions in recent days, which have resulted in the decline of animal husbandry.
PANCHTHAR, April 13: During the local polls, political parties had included social security allowance for the elderly people as one of their top election agendas. Senior citizens of Phidim Municipality were expecting to receive their allowances without any hassles after the local elections but that has been a far-fetched dream so far.
PANCHTHAR, March 28: There were 49 pillars until recently at the Indo-Nepal border from Pokhari to Falot area of Panchthar district. After a detailed inspection, two teams of the District Police Office realized that eight of the pillars were missing. Their report states that there are only 41 pillars separating our border with India.

PANCHTHAR, March 9: With the water current eroding one of the pillars of the concrete bridge over the Tamor River at Majhitar connecting Paanchthar and Tehrathum districts, exposing the steel rods used to build the pillar, the bridge has become risky. However, the authorities concerned have paid no attention to repair the bridge which was constructed four years ago.
PANCHTHAR, Mar 5: Infrastructure development projects run by UNNATI-Inclusive Growth Program, a Nepal-Denmark development cooperation, in seven hilly districts of Province 1 are progressing at a very slow pace.
PAANCHTHAR, Feb 1: There are altogether eight wards in Falelung Rural Municipality while the number of secretaries is four. As a result, the responsibility of the secretaries has been handed over to technicians in some wards. In some cases, a single technician is looking after two wards.
