KATHMANDU, August 15: Home Minister Janardan Sharma has said that a total of 111 people have so far lost their lives in recent landslides and floods in Tarai-Madhes district including Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Siraha, Saptari, Rautahat, Kalali, Parsa, Banke and Dang.

They have disrupted transport system by destroying roads and bridges. In Some areas, Nepal Army had to use a make-shift bridge to take relief materials to the victims. Even some wild animals such as a deer and a rhino fell prey to the torrents of water. After the floods disrupted the power supply, people have been reduced to living in darkness at a night time.
