Budget programs should be implemented: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU, June 2: Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Kumar Thapa has suggested that the program of reducing trade deficit and increasing production was very good in the budget for the fiscal year 2022/23 presented by the government in parliament on Sunday.

Participating in the discussion on the budget in today's meeting of the House of Representatives, Thapa stressed the need for bringing all in the tax net.

"The budget should be implemented, there are good programs in it," he said. "But the Ministry of Finance needs to call the ministries concerned to discuss the budget implementation.”

Thapa said that the budget programs were prepared as per the priorities of the ministries.

He suggested that there should be transparency in the sources of the budget and that the budget should not be like a lottery ticket. He said, "The idea to make the agriculture sector self-reliant is very good. The Ministry of Finance should work on it carefully."
