KATHMANDU, April 6: The Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation has drawn the attention of various ministries and government agencies to the issue of traffic police not accepting payments made through the government's revenue portal. This comes after the news of revenue paid through the electronic medium in districts like Surkhet and Kalikot being rejected by traffic police citing lack of valid documentation. The CAN Federation has pointed out that this incident highlights the weakness of the government's digital system in the public service sector, and the inconvenience caused to service recipients who are forced to conduct business in line and with cash only.

On Monday, a team of CAN Federation officials drew the attention of Nepal's government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, to the incident. The team, which had reached the ministry, informed the minister that the revenue collected through the government's revenue portal and other digital payment methods was being rejected by government offices across the country. This has resulted in service recipients facing difficulties, and the CAN Federation emphasized that such incidents will also have an impact on the construction of Digital Nepal.

The incident of revenue being rejected through the online medium by the government's security system has caused a rift in the implementation of plans and services, said Ranjit Pokharel, the chairman of CAN Federation.
