Celebs divulge party experiences

Trendy bars and clubs are mushrooming in the city these days. And it's good news for party lovers. To have a great time, all you need is great music, good food, comfortable seating and your favorite people. Indulging at these bars and clubs not only gives you a memorable day, but also helps you unwind for the work days ahead. Here are a few celebs sharing about their favorite hangout and their fun experiences to My City's Mushkaan Jain.

Young model and actress Salona has been featured in two Newari movies and is also the Executive Secretary at DV group of companies.

How often do you party?
I used to party a lot some time ago. But I’ve reduced my parties to a minimum now.

Any favorite pub or lounge, why?
Reef Restaurant and Lounge Bar, Thamel is my favorite among all the lounges here. It’s mostly because I am so familiar with the place. Also, the food there is super delicious and the live music puts you in a party mood.

What is your company like?
For me, party begins wherever my cousins are. But I also go out with my friends sometimes to have a good time and unwind. Mostly, I go out with my family because it gives us a chance to catch up on events and be together.

Any go-to beverage and tipsy incidents?
I’m not a hard drinker. I usually go for soft drinks or iced teas because I know I can’t handle alcoholic beverages. But I drink to be social. I once got on the stage wasted and joined a couple’s routine along with Rabin Shrestha. I don’t eat so much at restaurants; just visit the washroom a lot.

What is your first party experience vs most recent experience like?
The first time I went to a dance party was when I was in high-school, probably Grade XII, at Trisara. The most recent one was not so long ago at Karma. Both times, we had super fun as my beloved friends were accompanying me.

Salonaa Bajracharya

Guitarist for 'Exhibit 69', an underground metal band, enjoys performing live in clubs and is usually out with his band-mates for his gigs.

How often do you party?
I don’t party so much myself. Instead, I like to play for other people so that they can party hard. But I do go out with my band-mates to chill sometimes after we are done with our performance.

Any favorite pub or lounge, why?
After going to a few clubs around Thamel, I would say my favorite is Ibyza Lounge and Bar. I like it because the sound system there is amazing and I love to play there. The bar also offers a contemporary vibe and has a chill environment. The amazing music system and milieu there always has us swaying.

What is your company like?
As I said before, I usually go out for live performances. So, I'm mostly out with my band-mates, the Exhibit 69 group.

Any go-to beverage and tipsy incidents?
I usually go for a beer, mostly Tuborg. When I drink, I drink like there is no tomorrow. But if I think about taking it slow, four to five glasses is my limit. My friends tell me I hit them a lot after I get drunk. I don’t punch or hit them deliberately, but I move my hands a lot when talking. Once I got into a terrible fight with a friend after getting wasted. It's a blur-funny memory. I remember returning with him, in the same taxi, sobbing after the incident.

What is your first gig experience vs most recent experience like?
I remember the first time with my band-mates at The Moods Lounge. And I remember the most recent one, still with my band-mates, at The Fire Club. Nothing too bizarre, both were decent parties.

Amrit Khadga

The winner of Manhunt International Nepal 2012, Sanish started his career through the pageant. He is now an established model himself and trains his aspiring counterparts.

How often do you party?
I rarely go to parties. I join a few get-togethers now and then, but not exactly parties.

Any favorite pub or lounge, why?
Karma Club in Tripureshwor is my personal favorite. It’s the one club that I visit all the time, mostly for my work. The environment there is also cool and happening. It’s a familiar place, makes it easy for me.

What is your company like?
I usually go to clubs with those I befriended in the modeling world. My friend circle comprises a few models and a few actors. But my friends are crazy. Not a long time ago, one of my friends had come to party in a club with slippers and clam diggers. The club staff wouldn’t allow him to enter with slippers. So my other friend, who was already inside the club, packed his clothes and shoes in a bag and sneaked the bag outside for the slipper-wearing friend. That was an extremely funny moment for us.
Any go-to Beverage and tipsy incidents?
Maybe it is hard to believe, but trust me when I say that I only consume soft drinks. I don’t drink outdoors mainly because I have to ride my bike home. I dread those traffic cops looking for drunk drivers in the night. Driving under influence is after all harmful. But when given the chance, beer is my go-to beverage.  My friends tell me that I suddenly become an extrovert and out-going after a few drinks.

What is your first partying experience vs most recent experience like?
I don’t remember the first time clearly because it was a long time ago, maybe four to five years. But I did go to Déjà vu about a month ago to party. It was a fun night although we didn’t do any crazy stuff.

Sanish Shakya

An MBA graduate and an actress cum model, Jyotsna has been featured in over 25 music videos. She is currently shooting for an upcoming project.

How often do you party?
I party exactly three times a year, during Halloween, Nepali New Year and my best friend’s birthday.

Any favorite pub or lounge, why?
I don’t have a favorite pub or lounge. I have been to a significant number of pubs, but have never thought of picking a favorite. I am buoyant wherever my gang is.

Any go-to beverage and tipsy incidents?
As I am a light-weight person, too much alcohol is not good for me. I probably only get drunk on the above mentioned three occasions, and my poison has got to be White Russian. I love dancing whether I’m drunk or not. But I am the usually the sober one, the ‘mommy’ in the group, taking care of all my drunken friends.

What is your first party experience vs most recent experience like?
My first ever party was in the UK, while I was doing my undergrad. And the one I can last remember is the Jay Sean gig at Déjà vu.
