KATHMANDU, April 11: The construction of the chariot for the Seto Machhindranath Jatra is currently in progress at Durbar Marg.

The Seto Machhindranath Jatra is one of the grandest chariot festivals celebrated in the Kathmandu Valley. It spans three days and is organized to pay homage to the rain god. This vibrant festival, also known as Jana Baha Dyah Jatra, sees the chariot of Seto Machhindranath being pulled from one location to another over the course of three days.

The highlight of the Seto Machhindranath Jatra is the majestic procession that carries the deity's idol in a splendid chariot through the streets of Kathmandu.

The tall chariot, intricately carved and adorned to match the deity's white incarnation, is crafted anew each year. It stands as a testament to Nepal's rich tradition of artisanal craftsmanship. From depictions of various deities to the 12 zodiac symbols intricately etched across its pillars, the chariot is a masterpiece of meticulous detail.
