RUKUM, Feb 13: The elderly citizens in Chaurjahari Municipality of Rukum are yet to receive the social security allowance of the first four months of fiscal year 2016 -17.

After authorities decided to distribute allowances through banks causing red tape hassles, security allowance has not percolated through to the targeted since July.

Nar Bahadur Khatri, 72, of Chaurjahari – 7 said they had received timely allowance last year but have not received allowance on time this year.

Chaurjahari Municipality's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mahesh Kumar Gurung, said it took at least a month to open the bank accounts and the delay was caused also on part due to the necessary procedures at the ministry.

There are a total of 1069 elderly citizens in the municipality entitled to social security allowance. CEO Gurung added that the money has already been deposited in the bank accounts and soon it will be doled out to the senior citizens. RSS
