Child injured in forest fire in Dolpa dies

DOLPA, April 12: One among the three children injured in a forest fire at Tripura Sundari Municipality-4 in Dolpa has died. 

Chief District Officer Tulasi Prasad Dahal said that 10-year-old Suraj Budha died in the course of treatment at the district hospital in Dolpa. 

He said preparations were being made to send the remaining two injured to Kathmandu for further treatment. The children, who had gone into a nearby community forest to collect mushrooms, were critically injured in the forest fire on Thursday morning. 

They were rescued and taken to the district hospital in the evening. Dr Akhanda Upadhyay said one of the injured could not be saved despite all possible efforts. 

Tripura Sundari Municipality has arranged a helicopter to take the remaining two injured children to Kathmandu for treatment, Chief Administrative Officer Jagdish Chandra Nepali said. 

It may be noted that three of the four Nepali Army personnel who were injured while trying to douse a fire in Masta Community Forest at Thuli Bheri Municipality-4 in Dolpa district on Tuesday have also died.
