JUMLA, Nov 6: A team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrived in Mugu and started an investigation into the mass murder case. On October 25, there was a mass murder incident in Chhayanath Rara Municipality-6, Mandu village of Mugu. Nine days following the incident, the CIB team was dispatched to Mugu after local law enforcement struggled to identify the culprits responsible for the incident.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Birendra Thapa of the District Police Office Mugu, a team led by DSP Dharma Bhandari has reached Mugu and started investigating the incident. The CIB team is actively investigating and conducting inquiries at the local incident site and other places. After the CIB team was deployed to investigate the incident, the victim's families also seem optimistic that the investigation will reach its conclusion.

On the other hand, Khem Raj Rawal, the ward chairman of Chhayanath Rara Municipality-6, said that the CIB's involvement in the investigation gave new hope. He said, "Prior to the CIB's intervention, two teams from Surkhet and one team from Jumla had been engaged in the investigative process.”

A canine unit was also deployed to investigate the incident and has since returned to Nepalgunj. Chairman Rawal stated, "The arrival of the CIB team has raised hopes."

Karnali Province DIG Bhim Prasad Dhakal himself reached the district to investigate the incident in detail. Initially, the relatives of the victims had refused to receive the bodies until the police successfully identified the culprits. However, following the police's assurance of bringing the perpetrators to justice, a mass cremation for the deceased took place on November 3.

On October 27, two days after the tragic event, the police arrived at the scene and discovered the lifeless bodies of Sridevi Bohora, 28, her son Manoj, 11, her daughter Apsara, 8, and her 8-month-old son Rahar Bohora inside their home. Deepak Bohora, Sridevi's husband, who had been working in Qatar for foreign employment, returned home on the same day.
