KATHMANDU, Dec 28: In a concerted effort to advocate their rights, the chief ministers (CMs) from all seven provinces are gathering in Hetauda on Thursday.

The meeting aims to exert pressure on the central government and address disputes and challenges related to the decentralization of power, as outlined in the Constitution of Nepal.

Central to the discussions will be the resolution of issues concerning the distribution of authority among local, provincial, and central levels. The meeting will also delve into challenges associated with the effective implementation of federalism, human resource management, and the formulation of laws pertaining to mutual rights, among other crucial matters.

A previous meeting in Pokhara saw the provincial governments urging the central government to grant essential rights to the provinces within a six-month timeframe.

As the CMs convene in Hetauda, the focus remains on fostering dialogue and collaboration to find sustainable solutions to the complex issues surrounding decentralization and the equitable distribution of powers among the different tiers of the government.
