JANAKPURDHAM, Dec 26:  A controversy has arisen regarding the sending of gifts from Janakpur to the opening ceremony of the Ram Temple being built in Ayodhya, India. The inauguration of the Ram Temple is scheduled for January 22, and a dispute broke out between the mahants (head priests) of the Janaki temple during preparations to send various gifts from Janakpurdham, Ram's in-laws.

After the opening of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh state of India, preparations were being made to send 1,100 plates filled with clothes and fruits from Janakpurdham, the place of Ram's in-laws. However, the chief mahant of the temple, Ram Tapeshwar Das Vaishnav, has now responded that he will not send gifts.

Three days ago, the junior priest of the temple, Ram Roshan Das, held a press conference and announced that he would send different types of gifts from Ram's in-laws, Janakpurdham, to the opening ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, India.

Chief Mahant Ramatapeshwar stated through a press conference on Sunday that there is no connection between the temple and sending gifts, which are supposed to be sent from the Janaki Temple. Due to the dispute between the two mahants of the temple, confusion has arisen regarding whether or not gifts will be sent to Ayodhya.
