Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Task Force submits report to PM Dahal

KATHMANDU, Sept 12: The Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Task Force has submitted its report. The task force submitted its report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today, said the Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Gokarna Mani Duwadi.

A cabinet meeting held on May 9 had formed the Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Task Force under the coordination of National Planning Commission member, Dr Jaykant Raut, approving the concept paper of Cooperative Sector Reform Task Force, 2080.

The task force submitted the report to the government along with measures for the solution to the problems seen in the cooperative sector after identifying them.

Duwadi shared that the task force has suggested to the government to bring some plans in order to give immediate relief to the victims of cooperatives. 

Similarly, it has also suggested to the government to take initiatives to resolve the problems of the cooperative sector by making some legal reforms. "The report has short-term, mid-term, and long-term suggestions," he mentioned. 

Receiving the report, Prime Minister Dahal directed the bodies concerned to take initiatives in order to resolve the problems of the cooperative sector, and to formulate necessary policy for the long-term solution of the problems, said Secretary Duwadi.
