KATHMANDU, Nov 16: Details of the representatives elected from different constituencies and districts for the upcoming 10th General Convention of the CPN-UML are being sent to the party's headquarters in Kathmandu.

The UML had earlier directed local level committees to send the details of the elected representatives to the central office by Tuesday. Representatives were unanimously elected from most of the districts, while election was held in a few places as efforts to elect general convention representatives through consensus failed..

According to the criteria set by the party, representatives have been selected from three different categories including open, women and marginalized communities. According to UML Central Office Secretary Sher Bahadur Tamang, 90 percent of the representatives have been elected from the Central Department, Provincial Committee, District Committee, Special District Committee and other sectors. The details of the elected representatives will be digitally archived for holding the General Convention.

UML, which convened its Statute General Convention in October, is holding its National General Convention in Sauraha, Chitwan from November 26 to 28 to elect a new leadership of the party. The party has stated that 1,999 representatives will be elected in the new committee. The number includes up to five percent nominated representatives.
