KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Dhangadhi Premier League Twenty20 cricket tournament has been postponed for next year due to the busy calendar of the national cricket team, said the organizer Dhangadhi Cricket Academy on Tuesday.

The fourth edition of the franchise league was originally scheduled for Feb 25 to 27 this year.

“But we are compelled to reschedule the tournament owing to the busy international fixtures of the national team,” stated Academy Chair Subash Shahi in a press release.

“We have decided to hold the fourth edition from Oct 24 to Nov 7,” he added.

Nepal’s national cricket team is scheduled to play against Oman and the United States in the ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 Tri-series from Feb 5 to 12 at the TU Cricket Ground. The Rhinos will then head to Bangkok to participate in the ACC Eastern Region Asia Cup Twenty20 Qualifier to be held from Feb 29 to March 6 before playing for another national T20 franchise Everest Premier League begins from March 14.

They are also scheduled to play League 2 away matches later this year.

The changed scheduled means, the first franchise cricket league of the country will miss the entire calendar this year.
