‘DUST’ features in Global University Film Awards

A Nepali documentary ‘DUST’ is participating in the ‘First Global University Film Awards’ to be held in Hong Kong.  The 50-minute documentary will be screened from November 7 to 9.

Directed by Deepak Tolange, the documentary is about children below the age of 14, working in the brick kiln in Nepal.

The documentary has three chapters: ‘The Makers’, ‘The Transporters’ and ‘The Loaders’.  According to a press statement, the film tries to inquire the children's view on education besides their hard work in the brick kilns.

The documentary has already been successfully nominated at 17 different international film festivals, and amongst them, the documentary has bagged four major awards in the film festivals such as Parnu International Documentary and Anthropology Film Festival in Estonia, Boddinale Film Festival in Germany, RAI Film Festival in UK, and Nepal Human Rights Film Festival in Kathmandu.

After the documentary’s success, the team initiated a program to support the working children.
