KATHMANDU, April 11: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has issued a letter to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) to refrain from engaging in non-routine activities.

Based on the decision of the Supreme Court on April 3, the MoFA sent a letter on Wednesday to prevent the Secretariat of the NRNA from carrying out any tasks other than regular administrative activities until the formation of a new International Coordination Council. 

The MoFA has said that the election of the International Coordination Council and the subsequent election of the International Coordination Council of the organization established in parallel with the Supreme Court's order, as well as other activities and operations, will not be considered official.

The letter issued by the MoFA reads, “It has been requested in accordance with Rule 16 (2) of the Non-Resident Nepali Rules, 2066 BS, that activities that may impact the unity, integrity, objectives, and effectiveness of the NRNA, including financial responsibilities beyond the regular administrative duties from the Secretariat of the NRNA, as well as any activities affecting the unity, mutual cooperation, and goodwill among non-resident Nepalis, should not be carried out or encouraged until the establishment of the new International Coordination Council through a unity convention as mandated by the Supreme Court’s order to high-level committee, formed on January 15, 2022, under the leadership of former NRNA president.”
