KATHMANDU, July 12: The Ministry of Forests and Environment has officially designated the perimeter for the construction of a natural zoo in Birgunj.

A notice published in the national gazette highlights the ministry's plans to develop a natural zoo on a 50-hectare plot of land within the Sabaiya Collaborative Forest, located in Birgunj Metropolitan City-32.

According to the ministry's announcement, the designated area for the natural zoo will encompass the Ramban settlement in the east, the Solakhpur road in the west, the fence stretching from the 10-bigha area to the Vedaha River in the north, and the community forest in the Tighare region in the south.

This decision follows the government's establishment of a community forest on September 12, 2022, paving the way for the development of the natural zoo. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance has granted approval for a budget of 100 million rupees dedicated to the zoo project.

These funds will be utilized for constructing fences on the zoo premises, creating master plans, and undertaking other essential tasks, as stated by the Ministry of Forests.
