Former prime minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurates Rs 120-million resort in Sindhuli

SINDHULI, Jan 4: Targeting Visit Nepal Year (VNY), Chetana Village Resort has come into operation at Khaniya Kharka in the district. Operator of the resort, Yadav Humagain said the total investment for the resort stood at Rs 120 million.

Former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal visited the district on Wednesday, the New Year day, to inaugurate the resort. Speaking on the occasion, Dahal said that the resort had a potential to support the development of the entire area.

Humagain told Republica: “We aim to make Khaniya Kharka a tourist destination like Bhedetar of the east.”

The resort is situated 500 meters away from the BP Highway, atop a hill. It offers a wide panoramic view of mountains, hills, and lowlands of tarai.

“After the government announced to run Visit Nepal Year in 2020, I invested Rs 120 million to cater to both domestic and foreign tourists," Humagain said.

Speaking at the inauguration event, Hari Bol Gajurel, parliamentarian from province 2, said it was possibly the largest investment in the hospitality sector in the district so far.

“We need to be able to support investors with respect. Such support is needed to develop tourist destinations,” said Gajurel, “With big investors coming to Sindhuli, we can expect the district to become prosperous.”
