KATHMANDU, April 22: The government has arranged high protocol security for Emir (King) Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar, who is set to arrive in Nepal at 5 PM. Heads of state typically receive this level of security.

“He is arriving at 5 o'clock in the evening. He will be directly taken to the Soaltee Hotel from the airport under high security.' High protocol security arrangements have been put in place similar to those for heads of state, including the one from India,” said a high-security source speaking to Republica.

The Emir is scheduled to stay at the Soaltee Hotel for two days. According to sources, the Nepali Army will be providing security to Emir Thani for the first time, with support from the Armed Police Force and Nepal Police.

The government has also declared a public holiday tomorrow (Tuesday) on the occasion of the Emir of Qatar's official visit. Today's Cabinet meeting made the decision for a public holiday tomorrow.

This will be Emir Thani's first official two-day visit to Nepal. Foreign experts suggest that Nepal stands to benefit from Qatar's investments, the rescue of missing Bipin Joshi in Hamas, and potential labor agreements. They believe Nepal has an environment conducive to attracting investments in hydropower, technology transfer, and other sectors.

Meanwhile, Qatar's ambassador to Nepal, Mishal Bin Mohammad Ali Al Ansari, stated that the Emir's visit will strengthen the relationship between Qatar and Nepal, expanding areas of mutual cooperation.

The Emir of Qatar embarked on an official visit to Asian countries on Sunday, including visits to the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

During his visit, there are plans for the Qatari delegation, led by the Emir, to sign agreements and memorandums of understanding on bilateral cooperation across various fields. Refining the labor agreement between the two countries is also a priority issue.
