Heavy rainfall likely in six provinces for next three days

KATHMANDU, Aug 11: The low pressure line of Monsoon is currently closer to Nepal towards the northern part of the country. The meteorologist has highlighted the possibility of heavy rains in various parts of the country including Kathmandu Valley for a few days. 

The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) in a special bulletin said that the influence of the low pressure monsoon system in and around the north-western part of Bihar province of India will also affect Nepal in a few days. The bulletin reads, “There is a possibility that the low pressure line of monsoon will move closer to Nepal for the next few days. So, there is a possibility of incessant rainfall.”

According to the MFD, there is a chance of light to moderate rain in many places today, with normal to complete change in the weather across the country. Heavy rain with thunderstorms is predicted at one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The country will be moderately to completely cloudy with light to moderate rain likely at many places in the country tonight. Also, there is a possibility of thunderstorms, heavy rain with lightning and very heavy rain at some places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces at night.

Similarly, there is a possibility of heavy rain with thunder and lightning at one or two places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, the officials of the MFD said. Similarly, there is a possibility of light to moderate rains in many places as the country remains completely cloudy.

Similarly, on Sunday, there is a possibility of very heavy rain with thunder and lightning in some places of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Karnali, Sudurpaschim Province and a couple of places in Madhesh and Lumbini Provinces.

Similarly, on Monday afternoon, there will be normal to complete change across the country. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many parts of the country. There is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain with thunderstorms in some places of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and few places of Koshi, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces as well as in one or two places of the remaining provinces.

Due to heavy rainfall, there may be disasters such as water level rise, floods, landslides, soil erosion, etc.
