Hotel Association organises Tika celebrations for foreign tourists

GANDAKI, Nov 7: The Paschimanchal Hotel Association, Pokhara organised a Bhaitika programme as part of the fourth Bhaitika festival that occurs every year here during Tihar festival.

A total of 20 foreigners from six countries received Bhaitika from their Nepali sisters on the occasion. Girls from Rainbow Children Home, a child orphanage home, offered tika, garlands of marigold flower, Dhaka topis and typical Tihar delicacies including 'Selroti' to the tourists.

The venue for the Bhaitika ritual programme was Mums Garden Resort at the touristic Lakeside. The programme was halted for two consecutive years due to COVID-19.

Foreign tourists enthusiastically participated in the programme, said the Association president Lxaman Subedi. He said that the festival aims to promote the tourism of Pokhara and conserve the essence of Nepali culture. Tourists from China, Russia, Germany, France, Cambodia and Belarus joined the celebrations, according to programme coordinator and Association first vice chair Deepak Shrestha.

On the occasion, ‘Deusibhailo’ and other cultural programmes, a part of the festival, also took place. Prior to this, inaugurating the festival, Association general secretary Rajendra Dhakal briefed the tourists about the significance of Tihar festival. (RSS)
