House of Hope Performs live in Dharan

With the aim to inform and aware people about road safety, Royal Eastern Enfielders organized a live performance on Friday at Hotel Easy Rider, Dharan. The event also focused on promoting tourism through music.

An all-girls band, House of Hope, enthralled the audience with their performance. They performed around six cover songs such as 'Yo Maan Ta Nepali Ho', 'Ekantama', 'Jhalkai Deu Jhalkai Deu', 'Rock and Roll' and 'Gurans Phulyo', among others. 

The band was invited from Kathmandu to performance at the show. The band members are from the orphanage called House of Hope, established by husband-wife duo Gopal Mukhiya and Ellie Mukhiya. As many as 23 girls currently live in the orphanage. 

Fourteen-year-old Kanchan Lama is the rhythm guitarist, 15-year-old Resha Sunuwar is lead guitarist, 15-year-old Yarusa is the vocalist, 16-year-old Rahel Magar is on base guitar, 18-year-old Bimala Gurung on drums and Nirmala Gurung on trumpet and madal in the band. 

Talking about their inspiration for music, Rahel shared, “Our mommy and daddy (Gopal and Ellie) are our source of inspiration. We learn from them and we got passion for music after seeing them perform. We want to be established as a female band in the future.”

The band first got to perform on stage through singer Abhya Subbha, who had seen them singing cover songs on Youtube, as per Rahel.

Moreover, talking about the reason to have them on the awareness program, Sanjiv Rai, coordinator of the event, shared, “We are promoting tourism through music while also sharing information about traffic rules. Likewise, we also wanted to provide a platform for upcoming musicians and this is why we invited the band House of Hope.”
