BHAKTAPUR, Nov 15:  Durlabh Thapa, who became a candidate representing the Nepali Congress on behalf of the ruling alliance in Bhaktapur constituency no. 2, has claimed that he will win by a margin of 6,500 votes.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Thapa claimed that NC alone had more than 2,3000 votes, and it will bag a 6,500 margin after adding the votes of CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist) to it.

He submitted the data based on the latest local level election. Bhaktapur constituency no. 2 includes two municipalities. There are two municipalities here namely Madhyapur Thimi and Suryabinayak. In the last local level elections, the Nepali Congress won the mayoral seat in Madhyapur Thimi, while the CPN-UML won in Suryabinayak. However, when the votes of both municipalities are added, the votes of Nepali Congress are more than those of the UML. In this election, NC got a total of 28,330 votes in both municipal areas.

Thapa said that Congress and Nepal Workers’ and Peasants’ Party (NWPP) have been continuously winning in Bhaktapur constituency no. 2 since the beginning, and this time it is Congress's turn.
