KATHMANDU, May 4: Preparations are in full swing at Pulchowk, Lalitpur, for the much-awaited Rato Machhindranath chariot procession.

The chariot procession of Rato Machhendranath, the deity associated with rain and seasons, traverses various locations in Lalitpur annually. While devotees seek blessings for diverse wishes such as education, prosperity, and harmony, it is believed that requests for changes in appearance should be refrained from. This procession, renowned for its length, is one of the most significant events in Nepal.

Rato Machhendranath's journey typically commences on Baisakh Shukla Pratipada and concludes on Ashad Shukla Chaturthi of the lunar calendar, spanning about two months.
