KATHMANDU, Dec 30: An investigation committee has been formed after a complaint was filed against Raju Nath Pandey, the metropolis police chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.

A female city police constable filed a complaint against Pandey to Chief Administrative Officer Basanta Adhikari and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol on November 25, alleging that she had been mistreated.

According to the victim, Pandey raised his finger on her character, who was in the state of labor and insulted her by name, saying, “Are you going to have my child? If you want to work, leave your child at home. If not, then resign.”

“On Tuesday, a three-member committee was formed under the chairmanship of Gopal Prasad Pokharel, the head of the social development department of the metropolitan city,” said Nabin Manandhar, spokesperson of the metropolis.

According to Manandhar, the committee has been formed with Justice Administration Department employee Sumitra Lamichhane and Urban Planning Commission Deputy Director Kumari Rai as members. The committee will investigate Pandey within seven days and submit a report to the chief administrative officer.

After the application of the female city police constable, the metropolis asked Pandey for an explanation. Pandey had explained that there was no mistake on his part on December 20.

Manandhar said that the decision of the committee can only be said after the report. After the dispute on this matter, Loknath Chundal, deputy inspector of the metropolis, raised questions about the working style of the city police chief. He has said that he resigned after repeatedly suffering and misbehaving with the city policemen from the upper levels.
