KATHMANDU, March 21: Islami Sangh Nepal (ISN) has strongly refuted Indian media reports that accused ISN of giving refuge to fugitive Indian terrorists.

Issuing a press statement in Kathmandu on Monday, ISN said the report first published by the Economic Times (ET) was baseless, and condemned suggestions that it gave refuge to terrorists on the run. 

The news report alleged that ISN had come under the scanner of Indian intelligence agencies for allegedly providing sanctuary to fugitive Indian terrorists. Indian intelligence agencies and the special cell of Delhi Police, according to the report, identified that one of the ISN members, Nizam Khan, had been allegedly providing logistic support to terrorists on the run.
The ISN said the report published in the Economic Times was one-sided and biased as it did not include their clarifications. “The questionnaire that ISN received was not formal. It was neither on ET letterhead nor was it signed by Mr Dalip Singh [the author],” said the statement, while explaining the reasons behind their decision not to respond to the questionnaire sent by the author.

The statement further said that ISN, as an NGO registered with the government of Nepal, has been working in various areas including education awareness, opening schools in underserved areas, organizing assemblies and symposia to propagate message devoid of extremism, contributing to the development of harmonious society and  providing assistance to poor and needy people in society. 

“All our works and activities are approved by the government. We very strictly adhere to the law of the land. In the 32-years history of the organization, the government has appreciated our work several times,” the statement said.
