CPN leader Rawal condemns govt for its decision to contribute Rs 1 billion for IIFA ceremony

Standing Committee Member of Communist Party of Nepal(Marxist) Bhim Rawal has condemned the government’s decision to contribute Rs 1 billion for the popular Indian award ‘International Indian Film Academy Award (IIFA)’. Rawal has also expressed his strong disapproval of the decision made by Kathmandu Metropolitan City to contribute about Rs half a billion for IIFA ceremony.

PM Oli initiates afforestation program at Kalanki-Koteshwor road section

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli initiated a plantation program at the Koteswar-Kalanki road section in the capital this morning. The event was organized marking the National Afforestation Day. Speaking at the program organized by the Ministry of Forest and Environment, the Prime Minister said that the initiative will help make Kathmandu valley clean and green.

FM Gyawali to embark on six-day visit to China on Sunday

Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali is scheduled to embark on a six-day visit to China on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) stated. During the visit, the minister will attend the 13th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian city. This year’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions will be held under the theme ‘Leadership 4.0: Succeeding in a New Era of Globalization’ from July 1 to 3.

At least 15 dead as construction site wall collapses in western India

At least 15 people were killed, including three children, when a compound wall near a construction site fell on temporary huts of laborers in the western Indian city of Pune following heavy rain, a fire brigade official said on Saturday. Families of construction laborers were sleeping in the huts when the building wall collapsed in the early morning, he said.

Chile beat Colombia in shootout to reach Copa semi-finals

Reigning champions Chile advanced to the semi-finals of the Copa America on Friday after beating Colombia 5-4 in a penalty shootout following a 0-0 draw at the Corinthians arena. Chile will face either Uruguay or Peru in Wednesday’s semi-final in Porto Alegre. The other semi is between hosts Brazil and Argentina.
