JUMLA, Nov 1: The bridge over the Tila River, which connects the Khalanga Chandannath Municipality-6 to 10 in Jumla, has been obstructed as a result of a dispute involving local landowners.

Madanmohan Devkota, Gorikala Sarki, and Kuiro Sarki, who own land adjacent to the bridge, have taken the step of obstructing the bridge's access. Their primary grievance is the failure to receive compensation for the land they handed over during the bridge's construction.

These landowners complained that they had an agreement in place for compensation that included the land utilized for the road during the bridge's construction and the remaining land. However, despite the completion of the construction work, they have yet to receive the compensation they were promised.

Dipendra Bista, Head of the Divisional Road Office, has committed to taking the necessary steps to ensure the contract with the construction contractor is executed, addressing the landowners' legitimate concerns.

Chandannath Municipality Mayor, Raju Singh Kathayat, has called for an all-party meeting scheduled for Wednesday to discuss the issue and explore ways to reopen the obstructed road. The meeting aims to facilitate a resolution that satisfies all stakeholders involved.
