NC office-bearers' meeting discusses draft of election law

KATHMANDU, July 6: A meeting of the office-bearers of ruling Nepali Congress (NC) discussed the draft text of the proposed election law. 

The meeting held at the party central office, Sanepa, on Tuesday discussed the draft of election law sent by the Election Commission. 

NC Joint General Secretary Badri Pandey said that the office-bearers' meeting held a preliminary discussion on the draft law proposed by the Election Commission (EC). The draft text of election law includes a number of provisions including those related to filing candidacy filing and counting votes. 

The party has designated central members, Ramesh Lekhak, Min Biswakarma and Pushpa Bhusal to discuss the draft. Sister organizations of the party will also provide their suggestions on it.

Joint General Secretary Pandey further said that the meeting also dwelt on the applications submitted by sister organizations demanding recognition as their term has already expired. 

"The meeting discussed how to present and deliberate an agenda related to the recognition of sister and well-wisher organizations of the party in the upcoming central committee meeting," he said. 

Next meeting of the party is scheduled to take place on July 10.
