KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The health of Nepali Congress leader and lawmaker Chandra Bhandari, who was injured in the fire accident, has improved. His health has improved significantly since Saturday afternoon.

Dr Bhandari, who is undergoing treatment at the National Burns Center in Mumbai, India, underwent a successful surgery on Friday.  NC leader Yograj Kandel, who is in Mumbai, shared that all the parameters of leader Bhandari are reported to be normal this morning.

Quoting the doctors involved in Bhandari’s treatment, Kandel said that that with the improvement in Bhandari's health, the amount of artificial oxygen has been reduced by 45 percent.

“We inform you that his health is improving as he is being fed through a tube from today,” Kandel wrote on his Facebook.

Similarly, he said that Bhandari's lungs have started working on their own and the artificial oxygen will be reduced and the ventilator will be removed from Monday. Kandel said that since there is a possibility that the skin of the mouth and hands will grow on its own, another surgery is not needed for now.

On Wednesday night, MP Bhandari was injured in a fire accident along with his mother. He was flown to the Mumbai-based National Skin Burn Hospital in an aircraft belonging to Shree Airlines on Thursday afternoon as his health condition deteriorated.

His mother Hari Kala Bhandari breathed her last on Thursday morning while undergoing treatment at Kirtipur Burn Hospital.

The incident took place after an electric short-circuit occurred in the kitchen, which was believed to be filled with gas that leaked from a cooking gas cylinder.
