Nepal records 542 new cases, 421 recoveries and zero death on Thursday

KATHMANDU, August 18: Nepal recorded 542 new cases of COVID-19 along with 421 recoveries and zero death from the deadly virus on Thursday, according to the information released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

As many as 4,930 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 224 PCR and 318 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the virus.

There are currently 5,528 active cases of COVID-19 across the country. Among them, 5,259 are in self-isolation, 203 in institutional isolation, 59 in ICUs and seven on ventilators. So far, 11,990 people have died from the virus across the country.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 379 cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. Of them, 261 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 63 in Bhaktapur, and 55 in Lalitpur districts.
