Nepal Republic Media celebrates 14 th Year Anniversary; awards best-performing employees

KATHMANDU, April 20: Nepal Republic Media Limited organized a program on Tuesday as a part of its week-long program to celebrate the 14th anniversary of the company. Amidst a program in the capital, the company also awarded employees for their outstanding performance in the past one year.  

Journalist Tapendra Karki has been awarded for the best news writing of the year on behalf of Nagarik Daily. Similarly, Keshav Kumar Malla Thakuri (Amrit) of Radio Nagarik and Anil Banskota, Head of Marketing Department, have also been awarded.

Addressing the program, Managing Director of Nepal Media Limited Binod Raj Gyawali said that the development of the nation would not be possible without the development of the society. He also expressed his commitment to lead the society and the nation on the right path through journalism.

Similarly, Shova Gyawali, Director of Nepal Republic Media said that in the last seven years, the country has been facing many difficult situations such as earthquakes, blockades and pandemics and like any other sectors media has also been affected badly. She complained that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology had failed to do anything tangible to help the media sector overcome the current difficult situation.

“The Ministry of Communications has to coordinate and cooperate with media stakeholders on media laws and other issues,” she said, “However, the ministry has not yet co-ordinated and co-operated with media entrepreneurs.”

Also speaking on the occasion, Samridhi Gyawali, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepal Republic Media expressed hope that the impact of Covid-19 pandemic would end soon as it has seriously affected the media sector.

Gunaraj Luintel, Editor-in-Chief of Nagarik Daily, said that the media sector is facing the same problem as other sectors due to COVID-19 pandemic. "Even in the midst of problems in the field of journalism, potential opportunities are hidden, so those opportunities need to be used at the right time," said Luintel.
