Nepal will not allow any activities against China on its soil: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU, Sept 13: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that Nepal and China have multifaceted relations.

Prime Minister Deuba said that Nepal's foreign policy is based on the principle of Panchsheel, and mentioned that Nepal is committed to the One China policy, during the courtesy call held by the Chinese delegation led by  Li Zhanshu,  Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of the People’s Republic of China.

Prime Minister Deuba also assured that Nepal will not allow any activities against China on Nepali soil. He praised China's long-standing cooperation in Nepal's economic and social sector.

Prime Minister Deuba expressed his belief that the agreement signed on Monday by Speaker of the House of Representatives Agni Prasad Sapkota and Li Zhanshu will further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

During the delegation-level meeting between the two countries at Singha Durbar, Chairman Li Zhanshu said that friendly relations have been established between the two countries as good neighbors for more than six decades. He thanked Nepal for its sympathy in the recent earthquake in China.

Chairman Li Zhanshu also recalled the understanding, meetings and visits between the then Prime Minister BP Koirala and the Chinese leadership in the 1960s.

He also congratulated Nepal on the upcoming Constitution Day, which Nepal is going to celebrate on September 19. He also said that China is serious and aware of Nepal's sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity.
