Nepali Film ‘Lori’ wins Special Mention Award at Festival de Cannes

The Nepali film ‘Lori’ (Melancholy of My Mother’s Lullabies) directed by Abinash Bikram Shah has won the “Special Mention” Award in the short film category at the 75th Cannes Film Festival.

This time, the 14 minutes long short film, Lori has made two histories. First, the film has become the first Nepali film to be officially screened at Cannes and second, it has been successful in winning an award in the main competition category.

The film’s script and dialogue was written by Shah himself and cinematography was done by Uajal Kumar Bastakoti. Ankita Yadav, Sujita Sah and Preeti Jha have acted in it. It is co-produced by” Underground Talkies Nepal” and Hong Kong's “PETRA Films”.

Similarly, the main competition award ‘Palm de’Or’ was won by Ruben Ostlund, a Swedish director for “Triangle of Sadness”. This is his second Palm de’Or award after his previous award for ‘The Square’ in 2017.
