Nepse added 35.55 points while investors gained Rs 56 billion from shares transaction last week

KATHMANDU, July 15: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) added 35.55 points last week as banks lowered their interest rates due to an increasing liquidity with them.

The secondary market posted a recovery last week compared to a downfall of 101.61 points in the previous week. The market posted a gain of 1.73 percent during the review period.

The market opened at 2049.38 points on Sunday while it closed at 2,084.93 points on Thursday. During the period, the index went as high as 2,121.6 points and as low as 2,063.23 points, taking the market to the volatility of 58.37 points.

The secondary market started the week with a notable gain of 28.38 points on Sunday. On Monday and Tuesday, the market slid marginally by 0.80 points and 4.73 points, respectively. The market however gained 25.31 points on Wednesday, before it dropped by 12.62 points on Thursday.

The total turnover amount declined 8.87 percent to Rs 16.275 billion. Previous week, the amount was Rs 17.860 billion.

During the review period, the daily turnover amount stood at Rs 3.255 billion. Per day transaction amount fell as low as Rs 2.859 billion on Tuesday.  

The market capitalization inclined to Rs 3.064 trillion, up from Rs 3.008 trillion. As a result, the investors gained Rs 56 billion from their investment portfolio in the share market in the review period. In the previous week, the investors had lost Rs 142 billion.
