Nepse dipped 10.87 points, while daily turnover stands below Rs 1 billion for second consecutive day on Thursday

KATHMANDU, March 30: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Thursday plunged 10.87 points to close at 1,908.55 points.  

The secondary market opened at 1,919.42 points and hit the day’s high at 1,932.68 points in the first few minutes of the trading. However, the market went downhill in the remaining trading hours.  

In the intraday trading, 157 listed companies lost in their market value, while 49 companies registered as gainers. Only two groups--hotels and tourism and mutual fund—were successful in adding values on their market prices. Of the remaining 11 groups, seven lost double digit points in their indices.

Along with the market index, daily turnover stood pathetic at below Rs 1 billion. The transaction volume was recorded at Rs 899.53 million, slightly more than Rs 816.21 million on Wednesday.   

Among individual companies, Shivam Cements, with transactions of its shares worth Rs 50.05 million, topped the list. Adarsha Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was the topmost loser. Super Mai Hydropower Limited gained the highest percent of its market price and faced a positive circuit break on Thursday.
