Nepse gained 16.39 points while daily turnover stood at Rs 697.31 million on Monday

KATHMANDU, OCT 31: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) rose by 16.39 points to close at 1,874.87 points on Monday, the first day trading after the market remained closed for a week-long festival holidays.

The secondary market opened at 1,858.49 points and reached the day’s low at 1,857.26 points before recovering by around 17 points. The daily turnover stood at Rs 697.31 million, which was slightly greater than the amount of the last trading day that took place before the start of the festival holidays.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies also increased 4.93 points. Except for development banks, the remaining 12 trading groups achieved an average gain in their market values.

In individual companies, NIC Asia Bank had the largest transaction of its shares worth Rs 61.72 million. Sayapatri Hydropower Limited was the topmost gainer while Upper Hewakhola Hydropower Company lost the largest percent in its market price.
