NEPSE slides down 2.73 points; daily turnover inclines to Rs 3.03 billion

KATHMANDU, April 4: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Thursday declined slightly by 2.73 points to close at 2,004.05 points.

The market opened at 2,006.78 points and went through a series of fluctuations in the first three hours. The market hit the day’s high at 2,011.38 points before the final hour of the trading time. The index then went to a straight fall and reached the day’s low at 2,000.54 points before the last seven minutes before the trading time. Then the market recovered around four points before it closed for the day.  

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies lost 0.34 points. The daily turnover inclined to Rs 3.03 billion from Rs 2.53 billion on Wednesday.

Of the five gaining groups, microfinance added the highest of 94.96 points to its market value, while hotels and tourism, non-life insurance, finance and trading were among the gainers. Out of the eight losers, manufacturing and processing shed the highest of 110.63 points.

Among individual companies, 104 were recorded as gainers whereas 130 were the losers.

Gurkhas Finance Ltd had the largest transactions of its shares worth Rs 233.29 million. People’s Power Limited lost the highest of 9.05 percent of its market price, while Manushi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the topmost gainer.
