KATHMANDU, April 23: An 81-year-old woman has recovered from the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). After testing negative for this deadly disease, she was discharged from Patan Hospital on Thursday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, the UK returnee lady had been diagnosed with COVID-19 on April 13. Another male aged 58 from the same family had also contracted the virus. They were staying at Sun City Apartments in Pepsicola after their return. The man was also discharged on Thursday itself.

Similarly, 50-year-old Pana BK of Lamkichuha Municipality-1, who had been receiving treatment for this deadly disease for the last 11 days has also recovered and returned home. Her final two tests came negative.

She was also admitted to the Dhangadhi-based Seti Provincial Hospital on April 13, according to the spokesperson for the hospital. She was the fifth and last COVID-19 patient in Sudur Paschim.

BK had reached her village from Birgunj on March 30 and stayed in quarantine at Lamki Multiple Campus.

With this, the number of patients who have recovered has reached 10, bringing the active cases down to 38. No death has been reported so far in Nepal.

Meanwhile, three new COVID-19 cases were confirmed on Thursday.

Dr Bikash Devkota, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population, informed Republica that a 55-year-old female and a 14-year-old boy were diagnosed with the deadly virus. The boy hails from Janakpur. Swab sample of the woman from Udayapur tested positive at the Kathmandu-based National Public Health Laboratory. All the confirmed COVID-19 patients are normal, according to Dr Devkota.

According to Dr Samir Kumar Adhikari, the assistant spokesperson of the ministry, another  26-year-old youth was also tested positive for this deadly virus on Thursday evening.
