KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The House of Representatives has done its homework to prepare the agenda for the day of the parliament meeting. After completing the homework for a month, on Friday, Speaker Devraj Ghimire presented the draft agenda prepared by the Parliament Secretariat along with the whips of the major parties.

The Speaker discussed the agenda on the initiative of the lawmakers stating that if the parliament meeting is conducted according to the schedule, it can take an effective form. In the proposal prepared by the Parliament Secretariat, it is mentioned that the committee meeting will be held three days a week. Preparations have also been made for pre-budget discussions in the winter session of the House of Representatives.

The irregular functioning of parliamentary committees, often hindered by a lack of quorum, has led to stalled bills and the necessity for well-defined agendas in these committees. The Parliament Secretariat highlighted the importance of adhering to the schedule to prevent lawmakers from arbitrarily leaving the Valley.

An analysis by the Parliament Secretariat indicates that maintaining a disciplined schedule for parliamentary sessions and committee meetings will enable the consistent representation of the people's voices. This, in turn, is expected to enhance the effectiveness of parliament in enacting laws and overseeing legal matters.
