KATHMANDU, April 24: The Patan High Court has issued a short-term interim order to halt any process related to the selection of the chief executive officer (CEO) of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

The court ordered that the nomination of Milan Devkota and Madan Kumar Acharya, the members of the sub-committee formed to select the vacant CEO appointment in the NTB, and the members of the NTB’s board of directors are illegal and the selection sub-committee itself is also illegal.

A single bench of Patan High Court Judge Sudarshan Raj Pandey issued the short-term interim order on April 22.

The order specifies that the defendants or their representative must provide a written reply within 15 days, presenting any evidence, basis, or reasoning against the issuance of an interim order.

The petition claims that the nominations of NTB directors Milan Devkota and Madan Kumar Acharya are illegal, the CEO selection sub-committee led by them is illegal, and the process for recommending the CEO's appointment, dated 2080 BS, is also contrary to the Nepal Tourism Board Act of 2053 BS.

The Patan High Court has stated that it will consider the defendant’'s arguments on whether the interim order should be issued.
