Planting pots from old jar

Planting pots from old jar

Things you will need

  1. various colors of string like twine, hemp, yarn, jute
  2. white glue
  3. glass jars or containers from the recycling bin
  4. scissors
  5. old container or bowl
  6. optional: wax paper & tape to cover your workspace
  7. optional: clear coat spray

Directions:

  1. Soak the stringing material in the glue. It’s important that the fibers are soaked in the glue so they will stick when wrapped.
  2. Choose two colors of string. Start by looping each color, separately, a few times around the whole jar. Doing this will prevent the two colors from separating down the middle.
  3. Continue by wrapping the top half of the jar with one of the colors. The thickness and cover is up to you.
  4. Finish by covering the bottom half with the other color. Make sure to tuck the ends in and then set it aside to dry completely. An optional step is to coat the threads with clear coat to further protect them from dirt and water.
  5. Fill the jars with soil and a cute plant or two.
