KATHMANDU, Oct 6: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal embarked on a visit to Bajhang today to inspect the areas affected by the recent earthquakes. He reached Bajhang on a Nepali Army helicopter and is scheduled to return to Kathmandu later this evening.

The PM’s program includes surveying the earthquake-damaged locations and engaging with the District Disaster Management Committee. Chief District Officer of Bajhang, Narayan Pandey, stated that he will guide Prime Minister Dahal through the areas impacted by the earthquake.

The earthquake, with its epicenter near Talkot and Chainpur in Bajhang, occurred on October 3, followed by several aftershocks, resulting in significant material damage within the district. The earthquake left 20 individuals injured and claimed one life. Out of the injured, 13 have been discharged after receiving medical treatment, while five have been referred to other medical facilities. Two individuals are currently receiving treatment at the district hospital, and their condition is stable.

Despite the substantial damage to physical structures, including homes, a comprehensive assessment is still pending. Pandey indicated that efforts are ongoing to collect information from all wards across municipalities. Once the necessary data is compiled, plans for the rehabilitation of the affected people and reconstruction of the damaged properties will be initiated.
