KATHMANDU, April 23: The public transportation system will continue to operate during the arrival of Emir (King) Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar who is visiting Nepal today.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, public transport vehicles will be managed in a safe manner so that the public will not be affected negatively when the Qatari King arrives.

“We have mobilized traffic police on every route in the valley. Today is a public holiday. Since there are not as many passengers traveling today as on other days, we have managed safely to prevent traffic congestion,” SP Awadhesh Bista told Republica.

SP Bista said that the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) will be closed for about half an hour during the arrival of the King of Qatar.

According to SP Bista, the flight and landing of other aircraft will be halted for about 15 minutes before the landing and 15 minutes after the landing of the Qatari king.

Qatar's King Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is arriving in Nepal this evening for a two-day official visit. The government has arranged high protocol security for him.

This will be Emir Thani's first official visit to Nepal. Foreign experts suggest that Nepal stands to benefit from Qatar's investments, the rescue of missing Bipin Joshi in Hamas, and potential labor agreements. They believe Nepal has an environment conducive to attracting investments in hydropower, technology transfer, and other sectors.

Meanwhile, Qatar's ambassador to Nepal, Mishal Bin Mohammad Ali Al Ansari, stated that the Emir's visit will strengthen the relationship between Qatar and Nepal, expanding areas of mutual cooperation.

The Emir of Qatar embarked on an official visit to Asian countries on Sunday, including visits to the Philippines, Bangladesh, and Nepal.

During his visit, there are plans for the Qatari delegation, led by the Emir, to sign agreements and memorandums of understanding on bilateral cooperation across various fields. Refining the labor agreement between the two countries is also a priority issue.
