Real estate business marginally increases, Govt raises Rs 3 billion in revenue in Mangsir

KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Real estate transactions have seen a marginal increase and the government has generated Rs 3 billion in revenue in the month of Mangsir (mid-November to mid-December) compared to last year. Compared to the previous year, both real estate transactions and revenue have increased.

Banks have increased lending in real estate and business has increased. As the government eases the purchase of real estate, a positive effect has been seen compared to last year.

In Mangsir, a total of Rs 2.86 billion in revenue has been collected from real estate businesses. This includes Rs 223.1 million in service tax, Rs 1.95 billion in registration fees, and Rs 964.5 million in capital gains tax.

Last year, during the same period, Rs 2.64 billion in revenue was collected, with Rs 170 million in service tax, Rs 1.44 billion in registration fees, and Rs 720 million in capital gains tax.

The number of land registrations approved in Mangsir this year is 41,851, compared to 29,184 last year in the same month.

The total turnover of real estate transactions in Mangsir this year is 127,000, up from 89,000 the previous year. In Mangsir last year, only 22 apartment registrations were approved.

The Department of Land Management and Archive (DoLMA) reported a marginal increase in real estate business. According to data from DoLMA, 39,263 houses were bought and sold in Shrawan (mid-July to mid-August), 35,686 in Bhadra (mid-August to mid-September), and 47,398 in Ashoj (mid-September to mid-October). Additionally, only 26,000 real estate transactions took place in the month of Kartik (mid-October to mid-November) when government offices were closed due to the Dashain and Tihar festivals.
