RPP announces additional help for earthquake victims

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to provide different kinds of support to earthquake victims. The party made this decision in the office-bearers' meeting chaired by the party's acting chairman Buddhiman Tamang this morning.

The RPP has announced plans to provide financial assistance by contributing Rs 2.5 million to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. Additionally, one month's salary of the party's federal parliamentarians and provincial assembly members will be donated to provide relief to the families affected by the earthquake.

It has been decided to organize a rescue operation under the coordination of the member of the House of Representatives for Jajarkot district Gyan Bahadur Shahi (Gyanendra Shahi) and for Rukum West district under the coordination of the Deputy General Secretary of the party, Saurendra Bahadur Shah, to assist the party in the rescue operations in the earthquake-affected areas.

For this, it has been arranged that RPP leaders, workers and well-wishers from within the affected districts and those going from other districts can coordinate with Gyanendra Shahi in the case of Jajarkot and with Deputy General Secretary Saurendra Bahadur Shah in the case of Rukum West district to assist in the rescue operations.

The party has decided to postpone scheduled programs in Jajarkot and Rukum (West) districts until December 1, 2023, including regionally-focused programs. Moreover, the RPP has chosen to delay its general meetings, protest gatherings, and demonstration events until the month of Kartik (mid-October to mid-November).

The RPP has expressed grief at the loss of life and property in Jajarkot and Rukum West districts due to the earthquake of 6.4 magnitude that occurred on Friday night on November 3, 2023 with its epicenter at Ramidanda of Barekot Rural Municipality-1 Jajarkot.

In addition, the RPP has drawn serious attention to carry out rescue and search operations, arrange for free treatment of the injured and carry out the relief and rehabilitation work effectively.
